Jean Lajaunie is a native of New Orleans and moved to Slidell approximately three
years ago. She has been involved in painting and the study of art for the last 35 years.
Having a natural talent and wanting to refine that talent, she began studying under the
direction of a well-known New Orleans artist Lorraine Sherman. She also studied at the
New Orleans Art Academy and Newcomb College. Jean began teaching art by working
with children and then adults.
Jean has worked in oils, pen and ink, acrylics, and watercolor but her love for detail
and softness brought her to work in pastels refining her technique to display fine
details throughout her paintings. Though she enjoys painting many subjects,
landscapes, portraits, still life, her love for the beauty found in nature and wildlife has
led her to concentrate on nature and wildlife painting.
She has received many awards over the years including “Best of Show” in a regional
juried show and has had a one- person show in New Orleans. Her paintings can be
found in private collections in many cities throughout the United States and
elsewhere.
She now resides in Slidell and can be contacted by mail at
P.O. Box 3220, Slidell, Louisiana 70459
