Slidell Art League Gallery and Gift Shop

Our Part Thru Art (OPTA) – Slidell Art League (SAL) artists provide instruction and guidance in painting classes at the Council of the
Aging St. Tammany (COAST), to residents/patients at Greenbriar Skilled Subacute & Rehab Center, Trinity Neurologic Rehabilitation Center
of Slidell and Slidell Senior Citizens Day Care, a facility for Alzheimer's patients. In addition, we provide space in our Gallery and Gift Shop for
clients of St. Tammany Association for Retarded Citizens (STARC) providing an outlet for these individuals to sell their art items, creating
financial support for their organization.
Slidell Art League Teen (SALT) - Members work closely with teens from local schools in developing and strengthening their artistic
skills. These young people are encouraged to exhibit their art works in the SAL Gallery and Gift Shop, and are invited to the free workshops
held during the year and taught by SAL artists.
Gallery Exhibits – Both Slidell Art League and Slidell Art League Teen host a monthly Artist of the Month competition. The top winners
show their work at business places in the community. In addition, exhibits of members work is shown in the Gallery several times annually.
Receptions are held for each opening show and are open to the public.
Workshops – Slidell Art League (SAL) artists provide instruction and guidance during bi-weekly art specific workshops. These
workshops are open to the public for a small fee. We have held classes in oils, pastels, acrylics, drawing & plein aire. These classes will
be offered in 2007 as well as the addition of photography, jewelry, watercolor, paper collage & cartooning. Our goal is to give the community
the opportunity to experiment in many different types of mediums without incurring a large cost. It is our belief that there is an artist in
everyone. These budding artists are offered the opportunity to “find their inner artist” with the assistance of our workshops. Our classes are
one day in length, & each participant takes home their artwork ready to hang!
